The National Commission for Protection of Child Rights visited Presidency Correctional Home, Kolkata on 29.07.07.

An interaction of the Commission with Prisoners’ Children living back home in the community was arranged by Prisons Directorate , West Bengal on the same day to highlight their plight and the need for take over of their education and protection by the State as there is no social security available for such children in India.

The Commission was also requested to recommend similar programmes for developmental support to prisoners’ children back home in the community by all State Govts in India.
