Antiscorbutics :
A. Chutney of tomato/green mango/ green olive (Jalpai)/hog-plum (amra) according to availability in the season once in a week will be provided to all prisoners in their lunch for which additional quantity of the following articles will be issued along with 25 gms. of any of the aforesaid antiscorbutics per prisoner per week. Chutney will be served on the day when no animal protein in served to the prisoners.

B. All prisoners will get 20 gms. of mustard oil per prisoner per day. This does not include the additional quantity of mustard oil @ 3 gms. per prisoner to be issued on the days of cooking fish, meat, egg or soybeans and @ 0.25 gms. for making chutney.
C. In addition to 15 gms. of velly goor per prisoner per week for making chutney, all prisoners will get 25 gms. of velly goor per prisoner per day.
 
Condiments :
The scale of condiments per prisoner will be as follows:

Diet of child staying in Correctional Home with mother :
The scale of diet for infants and the children aged from 1 to 6 years will be as follows:

Scale of Medical diet for sick prisoners

The medical diet for the prisoners shall be of the following scale:

Other Amenities :
  • There are Hospital Wards in all correctional homes of the State even in the subsidiary correctional homes.
  • All types of inmates have access to get medical aid free of cost in correctional home hospital as well as in outside Government Hospital.
  • There are Legal Aid clinics in all correctional homes of the State where a prisoner can get free legal counseling and may apply for appointment of lawyer.
  • Facilities are available in the correctional homes for indoor and outdoor games.
  • Inmates are provided television in the wards or correctional homes.
  • They can take part in recreational and sporting activities organised by correctional home authorities.
  • Facilities for vocational training are available almost in all the correctional homes apart from subsidiary correctional homes where mainly the UTPs are lodged.
  • Adult Literacy classes are made available in all correctional homes of the State.
  • The prisoners have access to library of the correctional home as well as to news papers / periodicals / journals.
  • Self Help Groups have been formed in few central correctional homes where the convict prisoners are now earning by running canteen inside the correctional home

Work & Wages: The prisoners with rigorous imprisonment are required to put in labour in various trades in the correctional home.  An under trial prisoner and convict with simple imprisonment are not allotted any work unless he so desires.

For Skilled Labour Rs. 35/- per head daily
For Semi-skilled Labour Rs. 30/- per head daily
For Un-Skilled Labour Rs. 26/- per head daily
